Well the frenetic madness comes to a gentle end, I as I suspect many others have been having a well earned breather this past week. I joined the A-Z last year and had a great time but, I leant some lessons then.
The first, because I write long blogs, was do not attempt this challenge whilst writing a novel! which is what I attempted back then. I was exhausted for far too long afterwards. I cleared the decks this April, so writing 800-1000 word blogs each day was manageable, and so I enjoyed the experience even more this time around.
I did mean to write short blogs this year; I failed:(. Having decided on the theme of this world build, I found the research led me down many divers paths, the trick was to confine it within that 1000 word max. Very difficult that proved.
The research time was approximately 2-3 hours per letter and the writing about an hour an a half so, as you can imagine, creating a novel at the same time would have been difficult. I started planning each blog before the start of April, however, in the writing different strands may be followed , different fancies take over the direction, nothing is set in stone. Blogs have characters of their own, as well as fictional pieces, in my abode!
I have failed on following all my fellow A-Z’ers, but the list remains and I will keep on trogging and maybe, I say maybe because, well have you seen how many there are?- get around them all. There has been such a wonderful array of blogs , of subject matter. Everyone stepped up the mark with amazing diversity.
I have finished the month with a long list of future posts gleaned from the research I had to do, those tempting nuggets on those paths I dared not follow due to lack of time, are mine for future picking:) as I wrote, new ideas, thoughts and opinions occurred to me which hopefully will feed into blogs and my novels. On that front, I also have to mention that, new ideas and thoughts have occurred from some of the comments, so thank you everyone who dropped by.
Many people commented on opening blogs up without security, I think mine might have been on, as some seemed to think their comments were not getting through – my comments do have to be verified, I don’t allow spam or unpleasant comment through – I apologise for any inconvinience , but that is how I run my blogs, and all comments did get through:) and many others it seems, I personally do not mind proving I am not a robot:) it only takes a moment or two, so I had no objections to those who still had their spam catchers on through the challenge. It seems there is a def. split of opinion on this subject.
All in all, April was fun and enjoyable, will I join in next year? But of course, if it’s running, it is such a blast. Will I write short snappy posts, such as many of you did – ‘tis unlikely, I am a gabby old lady, and the A-Z is a chance to write about subjects other than my fiction work:) Will I turn off security so more people visit, probably not.
What I would have liked, but couldn’t arrange it in time, was to have this blog in a triberr group, maybe by next year I will.
So on that note. You who visit here know the subjects and style of did you ever kiss a frog, anyone with blogs that would fit, do you want to join a triberr group? I belong to two others, but they are concerned with writing not so much with other subjects. Or do you already belong to one with room for one more?
