Three thing Thursday is the brainchild of nerd in the brain. To note each week three of the things which have made me smile. Difficult to choose as so much does:)
The sun has been shining most days, that alone brings a smile to this old lady’s face. I really enjoy being able to walk out of the door without having to bundle up in coats and scarves. And, although I don’t, any longer, enjoy excessive heat I will put up with a lot to see that sunshine:)
So this week:
1) I have got past the half way mark in clearing and re jigging my extremely overgrown neglected garden (due to health problems I have not done anything for way over a year). So two large beds cleared and re-planted - no longer vegetable beds but cottage garden instead. The wildlife is already there. Also a bed, which had originally been a herb garden and had to be abandoned as such when my ‘woodland edge’ encroached and turned a Mediterranean type bed into a forest glade, has now been planted with Foxgloves, Hellebores and Lily of the Valley.
2) I came first in the monthly quiz I attend in the next village. First prize is always a voucher for the nursery where we meet, I save them up until I have a goodly amount. Not for plants but for gravel, slate to mulch my big pots in the courtyard. That makes it sound as if I win all the time, I wish:( however enough times to have exchanged vouchers for a sleeping dragon and some beautiful pots plus said slate. I won by one point this week, once I lost by 1/2 point! It’s fun and friendly and my hazy grasp on general knowledge is certainly put to the test.
3)Another garden thing - I bought an amazing ‘black’ gladioli of course it is no more black than the rose I bought earlier, but it is the darkest I have ever had. I have a great fondness for these ‘black’ flowers which is sort of odd as I really not keen on the colour in any other sphere! Ah well
One extra - I had a bullfinch fly almost up to me yesterday and it sat on a rose branch and scolded me - or was it saying hi ya? No scolding I think - but whatever as bold as brass and not the slightest bit scared of me.
